We started off the episode by discussing the Conan O’Brien and NBC settlement, what shows NBC has ordered more of for this season, a couple of pilots picked up by AMC, David Hasselhoff getting his own reality show on A&E, Starz having canceled Head Case, the Push being turned into a TV show, Torchwood being developed at FOX, FX giving Justified a premiere date, rumored guest stint of Jennifer Lopez on Glee, Rob Lowe leaving Brothers & Sisters, but probably staying at ABC, and Shonda Rhymes producing a new show.

Next, we talked a little Primetime that included the first three episodes of Chuck S.3 Ep.4, Life Unexpected S.1 Ep.1, Castle S.2 Ep.13, Better Off Ted S.2 Ep.10, and White Collar S.1 Ep.8.

Lastly, Amrie and Jason updated their progress on watching The West Wing and Buffy the Vampire Slayer through for the first time, respectively.

We started off the episode by discussing the Jay Leno, Conan O’Brien and NBC debacle, talking about what NBC’s schedule will look like post Winter Olympics/The Jay Leno Show, the return of Jennifer Morrison to House on FOX, ABC Family renewing The Secret Life of the American Teenager and Make It or Break It for another season, ABC renewing The Middle, Modern Family and Cougar Town for second seasons, Lifetime’s Cancellation of Rita Rocks, Simon Cowell quitting American Idol to work on X Factor for FOX, Glee getting a second season on FOX, Howie Mandel replacing David Hasselhoff on America’s Got Talent, Haiti telethon pushing back return date of The CW’s Smallville and the series finale of FOX’s Dollhouse, and CBS green-lighting Hawaii Five-O and who the rumored might be.

Next, we talked a little Primetime that included the first three episodes of Chuck S.3, How I Met Your Mother S.5 Ep.12, their 100th episode, and Better Off Ted S.2 Ep.8 & Ep.9.

TVx3 E055: Winter TV Preview 2010

To start things off on our first episode of 2010, we went talked a bit about what we did over our Christmas hiatus. Amrie has been watching The West Wing, Jason has been watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Rae has been playing with her Wii.

Next we went through a few recent TV related news stories like NBC’s Leno/Conan fiasco, FOX yanking Our Little Genius from the Winter 2010 lineup, CBS announcing a premiere date for Miami Medical, CBS moving Accidentally on Purpose and Rules of Engagement taking its place, ABC extending the season order of Cougar Town by a couple episodes, James Van Der Beek joing the cast of NBC’s Mercy, and Amrie’s excitement about some of the Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains casting news.

Then, it was time for the Winter TV preview. We went over what shows will be premiering and returning in late January and February 2010. We mentioned which ones we are excited for their return and which new shows look good. Find out what we thought of returning shows like TNT’s Leverage and new shows like The CW’s Life Unexpected, FOX’s Human Target and FX’s Archer

Lastly, we talked a little Primetime that included Rae winning the So You Think You Can Dance fantasy league, Make It or Break It S.1 Ep.11, and the last few episodes of Better Off Ted season two that have aired.

TVx3 E054: Fall 2009 Revisited: The Good, the Bad & the Turned Out Not to Be Ugly

To start things off for our last episode of 2009, we went over a few news items including CBS giving Parenthood a premiere date, Supernatural beginning to replay in syndication on TNT, as well as their renewal of Dark Blue for a second season, Syfy renewing Stargate Universe for a second season and Sanctuary for a third, the announcement that there won’t be a third season of HBO’s Flight of the Conchords, and FX giving The League a second season.

Next we hit on a couple of topics. First we talked about the things we liked, disliked and were surprised by during the Fall 2009 TV season. Then, we ran through a few shows and there return dates in early January, which doesn’t include House and Fringe returning with new episodes on Monday, January 11th, as that was announced after we recorded.

Next, we jumped into our Primetime Wrap-up segment and talked about The Amazing Race S.15 Ep.11, the season finale, How I Met Your Mother S.5 Ep.10 & 11, Better Off Ted S.2 Ep.1 & 2, So You Think You Can Dance S.6 Ep.21, Glee S.1 Ep.13, Dollhouse S.2 Ep.7 & 8, and Dexter S.4 Ep.12, the season finale.

To kick things off we went over a few news items including CBS pulling Three Rivers, ABC moving Ugly Betty to Wednesdays, Comcast taking control of NBC Universal, HBO’s Entourage wanting to do movies, ABC pushing the return of FlashForward unitl March 2010, FX finally announcing a third season for Sons of Anarchy, FOX picking up Lie to Me for the entire season, TNT’s cancellation of Raising the Bar, and USA giving Burn Notice a fourth season and Psych a fifth season, as well as them moving their schedule around to have new episodes on multiple nights come January.

First off we went over a few news items: The Who performing at this season’s Super Bowl, An unseen “Pilot” episode of the original Star Trek coming to Blu-ray in December, FOX officially canceling Dollhouse, ABC canceling Hank and Eastwick, but adding to the number of the forgotten episodes, Neilson data showing the average American watches four hours and 49 minutes of TV a day, CBS optioned the @shitmydadsays twitter account to be turned into a series, and The CW has finally set a date for their best new offering of the season, Life UneXpected and the merry-go-round scheduling The CW will be doing on Mondays next year.

TVx3 E050: A Coughin’ Good Time

This being our 50th episode, instead of going big, we actually ended up going small. We didn’t setout to do either, but this ended up being one of our shorter episodes. But, that was probably a good thing, since Rae was battling a cough, Amrie couldn’t wait to go eat (*edited by Am to add: homemade cheesesteaks at my parents’ house!), and I messed up and we had to re-record the first 15 minutes of the podcast.

First we chatted about a few news items: CBS cutting the order for Numb3rs episodes this season, yet adding to the original order of Accidentally on Purpose, Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin co-hosting the The Oscars, Gordon Ramsay bringing yet another cooking show to FOX with Master Chef, and David Tennant, star of Doctor Who, to star in a new legal dramedy for NBC.

After covering the news, we broke out a little mini topic. We went around and each gave a new show we thought we would like, but didn’t, a returning show that we have stopped watching this season, and a new show we didn’t think we would like, but do. What are yours?

Lastly, we talked a bit about The Amazing Race, the third season fall finale of Greek, The Big Bang Theory, So You Think You Can Dance, the “Pilot” episode of V, Modern Family, and Supernatural with all the TV show spoofs.

First we chatted about a few news items: NBC canceling Trauma, yet adding to the original order of Chuck and picking up Community, Parks and Recreation and Mercy for the season, ABC giving Scrubs and Better off Ted premiere dates in December, FOX moving ‘Til Death to Sundays in January, Bravo launching a new spinoff to the Top Chef series with Top Chef: Just Desserts, Benjamin Bratt will reprise his role on one episode of NBC’s Law & Order and will play Manny’s delinquent dad on ABC’s Modern Family, The CW’s Melrose Place has sent Ashley Simpson Wentz and Collin Egglesfield packing and Heather Locklear joining the cast in November, FOX has pulled Glee episodes until December, and The CW has picked up The Vampire Diaries for the season and added five more episodes to Melrose Place.
